House hunting spreadsheet

This weekend we are going out with our real estate agent on a massive house tour. We haven't been in any open houses yet so it will be our first time going inside a house that's for sale (not just peeping in the windows)! Eeee!

Since she's showing us 10-12 houses on this first outing, I decided to make a list I can quickly fill out at each house -- that way when we get home I can remember what ones we liked the most!

Here's the worksheet I am going to use for each one:

Kind of dorky, yes. But I am old-fashioned organized (still use a paper day planner in lieu of my iPhone calendar). Just wait until I show you my color-coded homebuying binder! ;)

  1. Well, it is not a bad idea to go old-school sometimes. In fact, it can give you a fresh perspective on things, like what you did here. This chart is definitely nifty and well-thought. It can definitely help you in your house hunting quest. Keep us posted! :-) [Armandina Skerl]

  4. The spreadsheet idea is brilliant! It’s basically a checklist that you can bring while house hunting. This should ease up the process, as you’ll be able to look at things more objectively instead of being solely overwhelmed by the aesthetic appeal of the house. Kind of dorky? Maybe. But look how wonderful it worked for you. Cheers!
